2026-2027 season tryouts

What to Expect

havoc volleyball tryouts are structured, competitive, and designed to evaluate athletes in game-like environments while maintaining clear expectations and transparent communication.

❋ What We Evaluate

We will focus on fundamental skills, game IQ, and overall athletic potential. Athletes will be evaluated on ball control, movement, communication, coachability, and effort. We look beyond raw ability to identify athletes who compete, adapt, and contribute in a team environment.

❋ Tryout Structure

Tryouts are structured, efficient, and competitive. Athletes will participate in skill-based drills, positional work, and game-like play. Each session is designed to give athletes multiple opportunities to showcase their abilities while maintaining a fast-paced, organized environment.

❋ Expectations & Effort

We expect athletes to arrive ON-TIME, prepared, focused, and ready to compete. Hustle, communication, and a positive attitude matter. We value effort and coachability just as much as skill, and we look for athletes who respond well to feedback and embrace competition.

WHAT TO BRING TO TRYOUTS:

  • Court Shoes (clean, non-marking soles)

  • Knee pads

  • Athletic clothing suitable for movement

  • Water bottle

  • Completed registration/waiver (if not completed online) - there will be forms to fill out at tryouts for those registering day-off

  • Tryout fee (if not paid online)

  • A positive, competitive mindset and willingness to be coached

  • DO NOT BRING:

    • Gum or food on the court

    • Non-court shoes (no outdoor shoes on the court)

    • Distractions (phones, headphones, smartwatches worn during play)

    • Attitudes that disrupt focus (negative behavior, lack of effort, or poor sportsmanship)

A NOTE FOR PARENTS:

❋ Next Steps

Roster decisions and next steps will be communicated clearly within 48 hours after tryouts conclude. Families will receive information regarding team placement, practice schedules, and program expectations. Our goal is transparency and timely communication so families can make informed decisions moving forward.

Please arrive prepared and ready to compete. Registration & sign in will begin 45 minutes before the start of tryouts. All athletes should be ready to go right at start time. Athletes should bring:

If you did not register your athlete online ahead of time, please arrive to the tryouts with them to complete the required paperwork.

NO ATHLETE WILL BE ALLOWED TO TRYOUT WITHOUT THE PROPER PAPERWORK COMPLETED AND FEE PAID!

Tryout fees are non-refundable. If your child is selected for the roster, the tryout fee will go towards the total player fee.

While we understand your excitement and willingness to support, our tryouts are closed to the public so that players can completely focus on the task at hand. You will have access to the adjacent cafeteria and sitting areas if you want to wait on site.
